After announcing its third-quarter financial results for 2024, Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri made significant statements about Apple’s new artificial intelligence service, Apple Intelligence. Here are the details:
Tim Cook Announces Increased Investment in Apple Intelligence
Tim Cook revealed that Apple will allocate additional resources to develop its Apple Intelligence service, which is planned to be launched this fall. Cook stated, “What we are doing is reallocating many of our staff from other areas to focus on AI. We have our own data centers and are also collaborating with others.” This means Apple is mobilizing its resources for this project.
Apple Intelligence will be rolled out in phases and initially support only certain languages. The integration with ChatGPT and Siri is expected to be completed by the end of the year. This integration is anticipated to enhance usability and strengthen Apple’s position in the AI field.
In the third quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, Apple reported revenue of $85.78 billion, representing a 5% increase compared to the previous year. Earnings per share rose by 11% to $1.40. These results reflect Apple’s strong financial performance and its continued leadership in the market, with new iPad models playing a significant role in this growth.
Cook emphasized that Apple sees significant potential in AI technologies and will continue to make substantial investments in this area. He stated, “Our goal with Apple Intelligence is to make users’ daily lives easier and provide them with a unique experience.”
In the early stages of Apple Intelligence, some features will be available only in English, but there are plans to expand these features to other languages over time. Apple Intelligence will enable users to interact with their devices more naturally and fluidly. With the integration of Siri and ChatGPT, users will be able to ask more complex questions and receive more detailed responses.
